We cordially invite you to the "Planet Digital" Special at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich!
Dr. Katharina Weikl, project manager and curator, together with MA Manuel Kaufmann, curatorial assistant, from the Graduate Campus of the University of Zurich - the initiator of the exhibition - will personally lead through "Planet Digital"!
This gives you unique insights into the current exhibition on the digitization of our world at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
Devices and programs for automation, mechanization and robotization influence and shape our reality to a steadily increasing extent. The aims of the exhibition "Planet Digital" between science and art are to show the (partly still hidden) opportunities and risks of these digitization processes and to stimulate the essential debate about digitization. Because the digital developments have fundamentally changed our subsistences and can simultaneously mean both "blessing" and "curse" for our existence.
Artists from the Museum für Gestaltung, the Zurich University of the Arts as well as researchers from ETH, the EPFL + ECAL Lab, some university hospitals, UZH, and even contributors from various parts of the world have joined forces for "Planet Digital" and show various perspectives on digitization in the exhibition.
In addition to the possibility of a more holistic overview of the scope of digitization and the questioning of our relationship to the corresponding technology, we are also confronted with the vast amounts of electronic waste generated. Ethical and fundamental questions are also raised, such as what future our society should have and how far, at what price and up to where we want to advance the digitization of our world.
