In the Dinosaur Jungle

Why do diplodocus, giant tortoises and giraffes all have long necks?
Find out at the Natural History Museum of the University of Zurich!

Dinosaur fossils come from layers of rock and are between 66 and 245 million years old. They have been found on all the Earth's continents for thousands of years.
Our birds are considered to be direct descendants of dinosaurs.

Scientific research into dinosaurs began in England in the 19th century by the anatomist Richard Owen, who introduced the term 'Dinosauria' in 1842 to give the now extinct creatures a name.

177 years later, in 2019, the University of Zurich received a donation from the Aathal Dinosaur Museum: a 17-metre-long Diplodocus, an Allosaurus and a Hesperosaurus stegosaurus
As the bones of large dinosaurs are more robust, they were found during excavations and are now on display.
Small dinosaurs were also recovered from the earth.
A two-meter-long nanosaurus will also welcome you to the Natural History Museum.

We look forward to an exciting dinosaur evening with you in the dinosaur jungle!
