Agroscope Visit on 20. Mai 2026
Visit to the “Protected Site” at Agroscope Reckenholz: Genetically Modified Plants at the Center of Swiss Research
Dear Members
How are genetically modified plants developed, and why is research conducted on them? Which key research questions are currently being addressed in Switzerland, and under what conditions is it permitted to work with transgenic plants at all?
On 20 May, Science Alumni UZH invites you to an exclusive visit to Agroscope Reckenholz. Experts from Agroscope will provide well-founded insights into the principles and the current state of research in green biotechnology in Switzerland. A particular highlight of the event is access to the “Protected Site”, currently the only high-security experimental field in Switzerland where genetically modified plants may be cultivated for research purposes.
The event offers space for facts, context, and discussion, addressing many of the questions people have always wanted to ask about genetically modified plants.
Following the guided tour, we invite you to a small apéro, providing an opportunity for informal exchange and further discussion.
Date and time: Wednesday, 20 May, from 5 pm until 7 pm
Meeting point: 5 pm on the bridge in front of the main entrance, Reckenholzstrasse 191, 8046 Zurich
Important information: Please wear sturdy footwear, as part of the visit will take place outdoors in the field.
Registration: Please register by 18 May 2026 via the following link: Registration page
We look forward to seeing you.
Kind regards
The Science Alumni Board
