What happens next?
At the end of your free membership period, you will receive an invoice from UZH Alumni for the regular membership (2023: CHF 70 per year). Joining Science Alumni UZH as a regular member is voluntary and the payment of this invoice is so too. Of course we would be happy about your membership to stay in touch with you!

Membership of the MNF Alumni Association is completely voluntary - after graduation, as a graduate of MNF, you can get a free membership of Science Alumni UZH for one year - after a Bachelor's degree for two after registration as a free member.
So why remain a member of Science Alumni UZH?
Science Alumni UZH, together with the umbrella organization UZH Alumni and all other alumni organizations, offers a network of over 20,000 UZH alumni in Switzerland and abroad that is valuable for life.
UZH alumni are active in various professions in all sectors and can be door-openers for colleagues in the (professional) world as well as inspiring younger UZH graduates and introducing them to the (working) world. Membership in the UZH alumni network can therefore not only open up worlds, but also membership in a constantly growing community.
Science Alumni UZH offers - like all other faculty- or subject-specific organizations - networking events at which fresh - and also not so fresh - graduates can meet alumnae/i/x who are already established in their professional lives, as well as retired alumnae/i/x, and network for career purposes - but also for many other reasons. It is undisputed that a well-functioning network is important in life in order to orientate oneself again and again and to move forward together.
During your studies or qualification, Science Alumni MNF UZH offers scholarships and mentoring to members in order to facilitate both - your studies/qualification and your transition into the professional world. Alumni are welcome to participate as mentors to support MNF UZH members in professional and personal aspects. You are very welcome to sign up as a mentor at any time if you are also interested in supporting younger MNF members and getting to know other MNF mentors in order to expand your own social and professional network.
It's not for nothing that the university is called an alma mater - it nurtures us throughout our lives. Being a member of the alumni system is above all an emotional factor. Membership often means a lifelong connection and conveys a sense of belonging. It makes it possible to meet former colleagues on a regular basis, to stay in contact with each other, and, if you wish, to indulge in a certain nostalgia: weisch no?
The UZH Alumni system has a tradition of almost 140 years. As early as 1883, the seeds were sown for the foundation of a UZH alumni association. In 1884, the membership fee at the alumni association cost 5 francs. Over the years, money was always collected and invested in the further development of the university as well as in good causes. Without this association and its successors, our UZH would not be the nurturing mother it is today. Science Alumni UZH is celebrating its 15th birthday this year and has already provided generations of MNF graduates with a supportive network and active assistance in their studies and careers.
Giving back: many UZH alumnae/i/x would like to give something back to their alma mater or faculty for the education and subsequent career it has made possible.
Through various commitments and funds, alumnae support each other and active MNF members in their studies and career prospects.
