The Zurich Zoo Society was founded in 1925, a large piece of land with an inn was bought on the Allmend Fluntern. The newly founded Zoological Garden Cooperative began to acquire various animals in 1928.
Today, Zurich's Zoo is home to many different animals, especially those whose existence is under threat.
Be amongst the first to discover the new Panthera facility for big cats, which opened on 28.03.2025!
It is not only home to lions, tigers and snow leopards, but also cat bears and spiders and insects threatened by extinction.
Those interested in zoo veterinary medicine are cordially invited to explore the zoo veterinary station and learn more about the veterinary medical care of zoo animals with zoo veterinarian Dr. Maya Kummrow!
