Lorena Niggli

I am currently pursuing a master degree in condensed matter physics at the UZH. My bachelor thesis allowed me a first glimpse into the field of experimental scanning probe microscopy and I hope to gain further experiences during my work on artificial lattices assembled atom-by-atom at the SPM department of the Radboud University in Nijmegen. We want to build and investigate exotic phases, which do not exist naturally in materials.

    IGEM UZH TEAM 2019

Our team, together with few other students founded the first student organization that concerns itself with synthetic biology at the University of Zurich. The main goal of SynBio UZH is to provide a structure for future iGEM teams and support their success. On top of that we also want to connect students in Life Sciences who are interested in synthetic biology and provide career opportunities to motivated students by promoting internships in industry and academia.

      Alexandra Marti

I am currently doing my bachelor’s in biomedicine. To strengthen my practical skills and elaborate on the theoretical knowledge that I gained through my studies, I decided to do an extracurricular internship at the John Innes Centre in Norwich (UK). During this three-months in the group of Prof. Mark Buttner, my goal is to insert a His-tag in the genome of Steptomyces venezuelae to facilitate the purification of the RNA polymerase.

        Biology Undergraduate Summer School 2019

The Zurich Biology Undergraduate Summer School (BUSS) gives undergraduate students in the Life Sciences the chance to perform a significant research project in one of the participating laboratories of the University of Zurich or the ETH Zurich.
